Sunday afternoon westerns

A video by Hardwicke Benthow
Take the clues one at a time; as soon as the answer jumps out, you can stop there.
Sunday afternoon, and a western on the telly. Dust, heat, a wide empty street in a little town. The hero squinted from under his big hat and said very little. Then the music swelled, and off he went across the plain, a cloud of dust behind him. How did he travel from one town to the next? Circle it together.
Pat both hands on your knees, slowly and then faster, like a trot. Then ask which western comes back first.
Answer: On horseback – riding off across the plain as the music played.
Why this game : The hat, the dust, the empty street: a western returns in pictures, often with the Sunday it belonged to.
