Help Editions, the Publisher
Help Editions is a publishing house. It publishes books for people who are there for a parent who is getting older, and who don't always know where to start.
The evening you search the internet alone
It happens all at once, or little by little. A father who no longer takes the stairs the same way. A mother who asks the same question again. A decision that has to be made for them, or that absolutely shouldn't be. A brother who doesn't agree.
So you search, late, when the house is quiet. The answers come in pieces, and none of them takes the last one into account. No one tells you where to start.
It isn't cruelty or indifference. People mistreat one another out of ignorance, or because they are hurting themselves — rarely for lack of empathy. That is where all his work comes from.

Three people live through the same situation, each in a different way
Both books speak to all three, never to just one. That is what makes them usable out loud, together, in the same room.
You see things changing, and no one has explained anything to you
You're in your fifties, and your parent still manages on their own. You're not a health professional, you have no training for this, and you don't know what is normal.
It's your life, and you are the one who decides
Not the family, not the professionals. Help Editions writes so that you remain the one who chooses — even when the choice isn't welcome.
You handle the day-to-day, with the resources you have
Care home, home care service, local council. You know your job; what's missing is time, and something to fill an afternoon differently.
Why these books exist
Connect what others keep separate
Every profession has its scope. That scope lets it excel and sometimes achieve remarkable results, and it limits it at the same time. No one has the whole picture. He spends his time putting it together.
Write to be used, not admired
A book you open in the middle, at the page you need that evening. Not a work you have to read cover to cover before you dare to act.
Never use fear to convince
Fear makes people close the book. These books say what is, and what can be done. They make no one feel guilty, and they will never tell you what to decide.
Book of the month
Help! Who's Going to Take Care of My Parents?
One Sunday, your parent tells you they had a fall last week. They're fine. They didn't want to say anything. And in that moment, you realise you have no idea what should happen next.
