Privacy policy
This page explains in plain words what the site does with the information it receives. The full legal text will replace it before going live.
Your email address
When you leave your address in one of the site's forms, it is passed to Systeme.io, the tool that sends Help Editions emails, for the sole purpose of writing to you. You tick the consent box yourself before sending, and every email you receive has a one-click unsubscribe link. Your address is never sold, never passed on to a third party and never used for anything else.
Audience measurement
The site counts its visits with Umami, with no cookie and without identifying you. The Meta pixel, for its part, is loaded only after you agree in the banner shown when you arrive. You can change this choice at any time.

This Privacy Notice explains what personal data the website help-editions.co.uk (the "site") collects, why, on what lawful basis, who receives it, how long it is kept, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller is ÉDITIONS AU SECOURS LTD, a limited company incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius, trading in the United Kingdom as Help Editions. 15th Floor, Citadelle Mall, Virgil Naz Street, 11328 Port Louis, Mauritius Business Registration Number (BRN): C21183246 Email: contact@help-editions.co.uk
ÉDITIONS AU SECOURS LTD is based outside the United Kingdom. Because the site is aimed at people in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR still applies to the way it handles your data.
2. What data is collected, why, and on what basis
| Your data | Why it is used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, when you sign up to hear about a new book | Sending you the email you asked for | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR regulation 22) |
| Your name, email address and message, when you use the contact form | Answering you | Legitimate interests: replying to the people who write in (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| The page concerned, the reason chosen, your optional comment and, if you give it, your email address, when you report a problem on a game page | Correcting the page and, if you wish, replying to you | Legitimate interests: keeping the games accurate (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time | Running, delivering and protecting the site | Legitimate interests: a working, secure site (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| Pages viewed and clicks, counted without cookies and without following you from one site to another (Umami) | Counting visits and seeing which pages help | Legitimate interests: improving the site (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| Pages viewed, clicks towards Amazon, and identifiers stored in cookies (Google Analytics and the Meta pixel) | Measuring traffic and the results of Help Editions adverts on Facebook and Instagram | Your consent, given by choosing "Accept" (PECR regulation 6 and UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). These tools do not start until you accept, and you can withdraw your consent at any time (section 7) |
| The days you visited and the pages you viewed, kept only in your own browser, if you accept | Choosing which book or guide to feature for you | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
No special category data (such as health information) is collected. Please do not include details of your own health or your parent's health in the contact form.
Nothing is sold on the site, so no payment or delivery details are collected. Books are bought on Amazon.co.uk, which handles buyers' data under its own privacy notice.
Giving your data is voluntary. Without an email address, however, Help Editions cannot let you know about a new book or reply to you.
No decision is made about you by automated means alone, and no profiling with legal or similarly significant effects takes place.
3. Who receives your data
Your data is not sold. Inside Help Editions, only the people who need it can see it. The following providers process it on Help Editions' behalf and only on its instructions:
| Provider | Service | Where the data is processed |
|---|---|---|
| Railway Corporation, with Cloudflare, Inc. as delivery network | Hosting, delivery and protection of the site against abuse and attacks | United States |
| Resend | Sending the messages from the contact form | United States |
| systeme.io | Managing the email list for new books | European Union |
| Umami Software, Inc. | Cookie-free visitor counting | United States |
| GitHub, Inc. | Storing error reports from the game pages | United States |
| Google LLC | Detailed traffic measurement (Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager), only if you accept | United States |
The Meta pixel. Only if you accept, the Meta pixel sends Meta Platforms Ireland Limited information about the pages you view and your clicks towards Amazon, so that Help Editions can measure its adverts on Facebook and Instagram and show them to people likely to be interested. Meta also uses this information for its own purposes, under its own privacy policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time (section 7).
Your data may also be disclosed where the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of Help Editions or others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business.
4. Transfers outside the United Kingdom
Your data is processed outside the United Kingdom:
- In Mauritius, where ÉDITIONS AU SECOURS LTD is based. The UK has not recognised Mauritius as providing adequate protection; your data is handled there to the standards of the UK GDPR, which applies to Help Editions.
- In the European Union, which the UK recognises as providing adequate protection.
- In the United States, with the providers listed above. These transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (the "UK-US data bridge") where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
You can ask for a copy of these safeguards at the email address in section 1.
5. How long your data is kept
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Email address on the new-book list | Until you unsubscribe, and no longer than 3 years after your last contact with Help Editions |
| Contact form messages | As long as needed to answer you; no copy is kept on the site's own server |
| Email address in an error report | Deleted from the report once the problem is fixed; the rest of the report is kept as a record of the correction |
| Google Analytics and Meta pixel cookies | Up to 13 months, see the Cookie Policy |
| Your cookie choice and the personalisation memory | 6 months, in your own browser |
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict how your data is used;
- receive data you provided in a portable format (portability);
- object to the use of your data based on legitimate interests. You can object at any time, without giving a reason, to its use for advertising or direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before you withdrew it.
7. How to use your rights
- To withdraw your consent to Google Analytics and the Meta pixel: use the button on the Cookie Policy page and choose "Decline". Both tools stop and their cookies are removed from your browser. Withdrawing is as easy as accepting, and your choice applies to the browser you are using.
- To stop the new-book emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- For any other right: write to contact@help-editions.co.uk or use the contact form, saying which right you want to use.
Using your rights is free. Help Editions answers within one month. If a request is complex, this can be extended by up to two more months, and you will be told why within the first month. You may be asked to confirm that you control the email address concerned.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with the way your data is handled, please tell Help Editions first, by email or through the contact form. Your complaint will be acknowledged within 30 days and looked into without undue delay, and you will be told the outcome.
You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commission (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
9. Cookies
Google Analytics and the Meta pixel only start once you have chosen "Accept". When you first visit, a notice asks for your choice; declining is as simple as accepting, and you can change your mind at any time on the Cookie Policy page. Declining does not stop you from using the site.
10. Children
The site is not aimed at children. Help Editions does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent personal data through the site, write to the address in section 1 and it will be deleted.
11. Security
Traffic to the site is encrypted, access to data is limited to the people who need it, and providers are chosen for their security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
12. Changes to this notice
This notice is updated when practices change. The new version is published on this page with a new date. If a change is significant, a notice will also appear on the site.
13. Contact
For any question about this notice or your data: contact@help-editions.co.uk, or the contact form.
